What we have here are two screen shots of the PowerPort Beta site, taken 8/8/2000. We've color coded for a purpose. Recently the Governor put our a press release about the state's site - that it had recently received it's ONE BILLION HIT.
We won't get involved in the lack of value of measuring hits versus unique viewers or page views, etc., at this time. The state's point is:
The State's Site is Well Visited.
The state puts the URL on license plates, press releases, TV commercials, etc. The traffic should be expected,, we've paid for it. Now if the site is getting so much traffic, the real estate of the site must have considerable value, correct?
Take a good look at how it plays here on the Beta site's proposed front page.
The pink area is state content. The links go to state content. (For the most part, although there's some cross-linking possible here)
The green area goes to various private enterprises - AccuWeather, and a variety of community "portals".
The blue area goes to Microsoft.
The second screen, admittedly not as valuable as the top screen, is almost ALL Microsoft.
